Race Recap - CRC Brakleen 175

Bret Holmes, driver of the Best Value Carriers No. 32, racing at Pocono Raceway.

Qualification Stats:

Time & Conditions: 1:35 PM CT | 75°F | Rainy | 6MPH Winds

Due to the rain, qualifying would be canceled, and a points metric per the NASCAR rule book determined the starting lineup. Being wrecked out early in Nashville didn't do the team any favors, placing Holmes in the 30th position for the start of the race.

Stage 1

Out of the gate, the Best Value Carriers No. 32 truck showed it had great speed. Holmes posted the fastest lap time of all drivers on Lap 12 with a time of 55.761 seconds. Grabbing ten spots early, Holmes would finish the stage in P20.

Stage 2

Between stages, Crew Chief Mike Shiplett asked Bret how the truck was handling. Happy with the setup, Holmes' only note was that he needed more grip in his right rear tire. With more air in his tire, Holmes advanced another eight spots to close the stage out in the 12th position.

Final Stage

Nearing the halfway point of the final stage, Holmes and the No. 2 truck of Nick Sanchez elected to pit while the remainder of the field stayed out. The No. 32 team pit crew fueled the truck and Bret exited the pits in P28.
With rainy-weather looming, Holmes knew he had limited time to get back to the front. Making the most of the time he had, Bret climbed through traffic into P11 before the red flag would fly with 8 to go due to rain.
After the delay, the trucks took multiple caution laps, which allowed the field to conserve fuel. Without having to pit, the front of the pack didn't see much movement, and Holmes would finish the race in P12 (+18 spots from his starting position).
